Great Barrier Reef Pontoon
Experience Co are delighted to be bringing a brand-new pontoon to the Great Barrier Reef in 2022. With a focus upon three main pillars – Sustainability, Marine Biology and Indigenous story telling - the new pontoon will feature a two-storey structure for reef-based exploration and onboard scientific learning via a purpose-built laboratory, the first of its kind on the Great Barrier Reef. Innovative in its design, the platform will focus on reducing the impact on the environment with wind, solar and, where possible, electricity generation to power the pontoon and smaller support vessels – another first for the region. The new pontoon, will replace Marine World that you may be familiar with.
“ I recently had the pleasure of snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef with Reef Magic and it was an incredible experience. The location we visited was easily accessible and the water was crystal clear. The marine life was abundant and diverse, with colorful fish, coral, and even sea turtles swimming alongside us. The equipment provided was of high quality and made the experience comfortable and enjoyable. Safety was clearly a priority, with a thorough briefing provided before the activity and experienced guides in the water with us at all times. It was reassuring to know that we were in good hands. One standout moment was encountering a school of vibrant clownfish darting in and out of their anemone homes. It was like being in our own private Finding Nemo scene. The underwater scenery was breathtaking and I couldn't help but be in awe of the natural beauty that surrounded us. Aside from snorkeling, there were also other amenities such as food and beverages available, as well as underwater photography services. It was a well-rounded and unforgettable experience. Overall, I highly recommend Reef Magic to anyone who has the opportunity. It's a must-do activity that allows you to witness the stunning biodiversity of this world-renowned natural wonder.

7 months agoThe best day out on the Reef! It was our first time snorkelling on the reef and it was everything we imagined and more. The additional activities were entertaining especially the fish feeding from the pontoon and the cultural show was fantastic! The crew were very informative and we felt safe and in good hands. The facilities were also of a high standard on board and on the pontoon e especially the smorgasbord lunch which was of a high standard. Highly recommend Reef cruises to anyone considering a full day reef tour. You won’t be disappointed!
1 year agoI had a fantastic time. The staff were amazing and friendly, the diving instruction was thorough, and the experience overall awesome. My girlfriend got sea sick on the boat travel and they very helpful throughout. Even though she wasn’t feeling great, she still got to experience the reef up close on their many options. They even actively helped us get a refund for her diving due to this. The buffet was fantastic, and as a Potato Bake Connoisseur, the potato bake served was *chefs kiss*, could eat it all day. Overall, a very worthy experience. Staff, experiences, and food were awesome. Even the beer was reasonably priced. Room for improvement: I couldn’t find out what reef they go to until we got there. Now I’ll be going to the same reef twice (something I didn’t want to do with the many trips booked so that I could cover as many as possible). It would be really cool if they would advertise that the pontoon is at Moore Reef.
2 years agoA great day out! My first ever trip to the reef was with Reef Magic, 11 years ago, and I’ve visited them multiple times since. Because of repeated good experiences, I brought my son for his 10th birthday; and first trip to the reef. The staff are excellent- friendly and helpful. The lunch was plentiful, and good options for me (vegetarian). The equipment was in good condition, and the activities were scheduled well so you could fit everything in. My son had a blast, and was super happy to get 1x1 time with Wally. We will definitely visit again next time we’re in Cairns.
2 years agoWas an amazing day! Everything was so organised and professional. The boat was cool and not hot at all. When getting to the marine world we got the chance to snorkel and it was just amazing. Saw so many fish and how they live around the reef. Amazing photos were taken of us and allowed to purchase. We got the chance to purchase other activities so we went on a safari which was going a bit further out and seeing more of the marine life, was fantastic! We took the helicopter flight home and was so worth the money, their views are incredible. Highly recommend to all ages!
4 years agoAbsolutely amazing all the staff were great full of information and very helpful. The onboard photographer was also great we also did the snuba would highly recommend it an awesome experience for all ages 6 and above the fish feeding was also great the fish came right up so you could see them up close.
5 years agoGreat crew and worth money! Provided us lots of choices of activities including exciting glass boat tour and semi submarine tours as well. Lunch was also nice combinations of hot means and cold dishes. I will definitely come back for more activities with them!
5 years agoAn awesome day out. We had rough sea but it was still a good trip out to the reef. Saw lots of fish and coral. The kids have never snorkelled before and haven’t stopped talking about it. The lunch was good. My son found out the hard way you need to go into the water with a stinger suit on as you will get stung by a jellyfish, he was ok though.
5 years agoThe crew was great and the experience was too! Lunch was ok, snacks and drinks on board were good. Restroom facilities got a little rough due to time aboard and the number of people. Would do it again and would recommend to anyone for a great experience of the Great Barrier Reef with a very knowledgeable staff.
